Hi! My name is Marley Bassett and I am a junior student who recently transferred to the University of South Carolina. I am majoring in mass communication with a minor in political science. Currently, I am one of the assistant news editors for The Daily Gamecock and an intern for Watershed Consulting Group. I am also a freelance reporter for the Lexington county Chronicle. Previously, I was the marketing intern for Charleston County Parks and Recreation. I was also recently the editor in chief of The Johnsonian and the president of the Winthrop University chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. My love for politics is what inspired me to go into  mass communication so I could explain and inform the public about everything going on with the local, state, national and occasionally international political systems.
